Blanche de Chambly: A World Class White Beer
This unfiltered white beer is cloudy with rich sediment and has a pale golden wheat colour. Blanche de Chambly from Unibroue in Chambly, Quebec supplies a predictable, if not mild, spicy citrus aroma and pours with a fleeting soapy white head.
Blanche de Chambly starts with a refreshing tang and carries a very pleasant bubbly mouthfeel. That gives way to a mildly sweet and malty taste, then finishes with a slightly syrupy aftertaste. The beer, named for a 17th century Quebec captain, is very easy-drinking and far less overpowering than most white ales.
