This pre-prohibition style lager from Grand River Brewing in Cambridge, Ontario pours a lovely golden honey colour with an ample head that lingers in your glass. Galt Knife Old Style Lager produces an appetizingly sweet aroma with hints of caramel and biscuit.
Galt Knife Old Style Lager has a full, creamy mouthfeel that carries over into the taste. This creamy, malty taste is extremely well-balanced with a hoppy, tangy bite and a dry, but not bitter finish that leaves you wanting more.
The bottle features a sketch of a working blacksmith, with the name of the beer printed in deep red, stenciled lettering. The brewery logo and Ontario Craft Brewers logo are proudly displayed and words like passion, commitment and independence are printed in the background. The bottle also prominently displays a “bottled on” date.
Galt Knife Old Style Lager is a wonderfully distinct, yet easy-drinking brew that I’ve grown quite fond of since discovering it at my local LCBO outlet. You can also visit Grand River Brewing six days a week.
